The D2-12 Prestolite slip ring, also known as collector ring, is a key wearable conductive component installed on the front shaft of Prestolite alternator rotors. Two concentric copper rings rotate together with the rotor, sliding contact with stationary carbon brushes to transfer excitation current into the rotating field winding, which generates alternating magnetic field required for power generation. Long-term friction with carbon brushes will cause surface wear, scratches or grooves, resulting in poor conductivity, unstable voltage and insufficient bus air conditioning power output.
This slip ring adopts high-density forged copper ring with precision turning surface, low friction coefficient and uniform hardness, reducing abrasion speed when contacting carbon brushes. The inner insulating hub uses high-temperature resistant material to avoid deformation under engine compartment heat. Standard inner hole size and positioning structure realize direct press-fit installation onto Prestolite 110A,120A,150A rotor shafts, one SKU covers multiple mainstream generator models to simplify spare parts inventory.
